#HearMeToo – QANDIL Joins The International Campaign to Combat Violence Against Women and Girls

As a humanitarian aid organization, providing humanitarian assistance and promoting sustainable and peaceful societies, we constantly witness how refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) are facing challenging situations that lead to increased exposure of women and girls to gender-based violence. Forced early marriage, physical violence against women and children, and very vulnerable economical situations are some of the issues that we are seeking to address and overcome together with the communities we engage with in Iraq and North East Syria.

This region is facing complex challenges, and multifaceted and differentiated methods are needed to fight and prevent violations of human and women’s rights. Awareness raising sessions, specialized legal assistance, sports and art activities are some of the ways to break the silence about gender-based violence. This is an urgent matter to QANDIL and that is why we energetically join the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign and the struggle of many human rights defenders for a brighter future, free from violence against women and girls.”
